On the eve of Fortnite , the Device event was held, which plunged a significant part of the map under water and helped set the game a record for the number of simultaneous viewers on Twitch.
According to Twitch Tracker , Twitch Royal Battle streams gathered around 2.28 million people on the screens. The previous leader is League of Legends , which scored about 1.74 million during the largest e-Sports tournament of the World Championship in 2019. According to the developers, a total of 8.4 million users watched the event on Twitch and YouTube, and 12 million took a direct part in it. Probably Fortnite would not have set this record if its servers were rubber – many players would not have rushed to streaming platforms, but would have personally participated in the event. However, in that case, another record would be possible – by the number of simultaneous gamers in the game.
